Luxurious, Elegant Relief.
Thanks to all!
December 10th, 2010I want to thank all of you that visited with me since Thanksgiving at either my Hillwood show or my home show. The feedback received was very helpful and provided me with some great ideas for the future. Of course, I also want to thank those of you who purchased one or more of my reliefs. I really appreciate it as it allows me the continuing opportunity to go to more bead shows, find the unusual, and create the unique.
Again, I will try to be more diligent in my postings and try to get some more recent pictures up on the site. In the mean time, if there is anything that you are interested in, please send me an email and I’ll get back to you shortly. Thanks again!

Spring Show a wild success!
April 26th, 2010Thanks to all of you that came and enjoyed my new “reliefs”. I’m glad that my new spring collection was so well received. For the four of you that told me after you paid that my prices were too low, I again want to thank you for your comments but I love using my right brain for combining disparate shapes, colors, and sizes to make my creations. And, as I have said in the past, I just want to sell more so that I can continue to buy more, knowing that my reliefs are bringing joy to the wearer. So don’t expect me to raise my prices to make a little money as that is not my goal. Besides, if I were to focus on making money then it wouldn’t be my relief, instead it would be work.
I continue to hope that you enjoy my reliefs and look forward to seeing all of you long before my next home show in November. Of course, if you have an outfit that just needs the right accessory, please remember me and give me the opportunity to make that special creation for you. I enjoy doing commissioned pieces so give me call or drop me a note.
Thanks again to all of you for being so supportive of me. Take care. Ron
Ron's Reliefs Home Show April 25 from 12 pm to 4 pm
April 12th, 2010Well, it has been a while since I have posted but I have been busy over the winter buying some very unusual stones and pearls. My latest creations will be available at my home show on Sunday, April 25 from 12 pm to 4 pm. I hope to see you. Even if you are not interested in buying, please stop by and enjoy some snacks and good company. Thanks. Ron
Holiday Update
December 9th, 2009My apologies to those of you who have been wanting to know how things have been going since Magical Montgomery. In a nutshell, they went from bad to good to better, which is where I am now. The week after Magical Montgomery I was in a show in Fells Point and was put next to a booth where kids went beyond their booth and accosted everyone that walked by, asking for money for their school. I didn’t mind that they asked for money, it was that they went outside of their booth to get it, causing people to rush past my booth without looking. As a result, it was not good.
In anticipation of the holiday season, I decided I would have a home show (and to try to get me out of my bummer mood) and was very pleased with the results. I had some necklaces that I created that were similar to those seen in the department stores but at a lower price. As a result, I did quite well and everyone seemed pleased with their new “relief”.
The most exciting news, however, is that Janet was wearing one of my pearl necklaces and the manager/buyer for the Hillwood Mansion Museum Shop said that she liked it. Well, to make a long story short, I showed her some of my pieces and you may now buy my creations from the Museum Shop at Hillwood. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Hillwood, it is Marjorie Merriweather Post’s house in DC and she was a collector of Faberge eggs, which used chalcedony, and a pearl aficionado. Please stop by their Museum Shop (and the rest of their grounds) and let them know that you like my jewelry. And if you don’t see any, ask if they have any more and would like to see some of it. Thanks.
So that’s my story. I hope you will stop by Hillwood and aske to see my creations. Thanks. Have a happy holiday season. Take care. Ron
THANK YOU!
September 26th, 2009I just got back from finishing up Magical Montgomery and I want to give a big thank you to all of you who attended. This was my first “big” show this year and I am really pleased with all the positive feedback that I received, especially from those of you who purchased one or more of my reliefs. Special thanks go out to Roberta, who was my first sale of the day, and ended with Carla as my last sale of the day when many others had already closed. Thanks also to Michelle, Stan, Eileen, Judy, Carol, Sharon, Joann, Stu, Mary, and those of you whose names I didn’t catch because you paid in cash. I can only hope that next week’s show at the Fells Point Fun Festival goes as well as it did today.
To the person that wanted red studs, send me an email and I will tell you what I can get. For the tiger eye customer, I can get the 8mm or the 10mm, just let me know what you would like and I will design something unique for you.
I’m pretty tired now, so I’m taking the night off from beading and am back to reading my book, The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It was on the NYT bestseller list. Take care and THANKS to all of you who came out in the rain to see my reliefs.
More creations for upcoming shows
September 21st, 2009It has been a while since I last posted for many reasons but I won’t go into excuses. I have, however, been busy creating with a focus upon styles that I have been seeing in Nordstroms, J. Crew, and Bloomingdales. It appears that faux pearls are quite big this season. Additionally, wild animal designs seem to be quite popular in clothing. Lastly, necklaces with ribbon seem to be the current rage as they allow for the flexibility of adjusting the length of the necklace.
I have been able to create necklaces that use many of the features in these upscale stores and add a bit of Ron’s Reliefs bling to them. I use leopard pattern ribbon with faceted onyx for an adjustable necklace as well as tiger pattern ribbon with faceted citrine colored glass that make for some special creations.
I am unable to find a good supply of jumbo faux pearls, which are included in many designs, but I am able to find large faux pearls that I am able to work into some similar designs to those in the stores. I have also created some rather unusual and unique reliefs that are sure to get compliments from even strangers. I know because my wife has modeled some and received such comments, including some from fellow designers who want to try to copy my designs.
Some of the best part of all this is that I was able to get much of my supply at very affordable prices so I am passing along the savings to you. So you need to be sure to attend one of my upcoming shows, including a repeat performance at Montgomery County’s Magical Montgomery. It takes place this Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 12-6 at the same location as last year near the corner of Ellsworth and Fenton Streets in Downtown Silver Spring. I hope to see you there.
I will also be at the Fells Point Fun Festival the following weekend, October 3-4. I hope those of you who are unable to attend Magical Montgomery this weekend will stop by and say hello to me in Baltimore.
Lastly, I am still working on understanding how to add more pix to my site but I will do so soon so that I may be able to show you some of my creations. See you soon. Take care. Ron
Be sure to come to My next batch will have to
I'm Back!
April 28th, 2009It has been a while since I have posted for many reasons, not the least of which is the economy. That is, I have been quite busy at work (where I get paid as opposed to my fun work where I only get back the money that I have put into my reliefs) as the recession has caused a lot of anxiety. The anxiety has spread over to my Reliefs area as I had not done much work until recently. I was looking forward to a bead show that took place this past weekend and I got some new ideas and new stones. I bought some stones that the seller really liked but was uncertain as to how to use them so that evening I got inspired and made a necklace that was a hit at the show when my wife modeled it. One of the other sellers asked where I had gotten the stones from and then immediately left her booth to get some but, as it turns out, I had bought all of them that they had brought to the show. So watch for me gallery changes in the upcoming weeks as I try to add them.
So that’s it for now. Please stop by and send me a note as I like to hear about you and what Relief I can do for you. Thanks and it is good to be back.
Magical Montgomery rain out but Duck Derby on Sunday
October 2nd, 2008Magical Montgomery was a bit of a rain out but I want to thank all of you that were able to come by and see my new reliefs. A special thanks to all of you that made a purchase. I did not do as well as I would have liked in terms of sales but I did enjoy that so many friends stopped by to chat and keep my spirits up in spite of the weather.
So this coming Sunday is my only other scheduled event so please stop by and visit me at the Montgomery Hospice Derby Duck Festival. It is this Sunday, October 5 from noon to 3 pm at Seneca Creek State Park. If for no other reason, it is a great opportunity to visit the park for free (normally there is a nominal charge). The Derby Duck Festival is a fundraising event of Montgomery Hospice, which is a not for profit hospice serving Montgomery County with a team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and volunteers who work with their patients and families to provide quality end-of-life care. I have recently joined the board but I am drawn to the support and care that they provide for the patient and their family during such a tough period of one’s life.
As an added bonus for coming and purchasing my reliefs, inclusive of my booth fee, I will be donating 10% of the proceeds of sales to Montgomery Hospice. So by purchasing from me, you will also be supporting Montgomery Hospice directly. Of course, you can also adopt a duck for $5 or even a flock of 13 ducks for $50 and win a chance at great prizes, including a 47″ HDTV or 2 roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the continental US.
So I hope to see you on Sunday. I will have a new set up so if you saw me on Saturday, come by again and visit me at my new booth layout. For those of you that know me, you know that I am not into the marketing end of this endeavor so I have limited my expenditures on displays by making them myself and while my displays may be a bit primitive, the new display will allow you to see my creations better. The goal being to try to hold down costs so that you may enjoy my reliefs at my very reasonable prices and I may recycle your sales into more beads. Making money is not part of this equation but buying more beads and having fun is what it is all about. So, please, stop by and take a look as something might strike you as just the right thing. I was so pleased on Saturday when one woman said that she just had to get one of my strawberry quartz necklaces because it fit her personality so well. And it did! And she looked great with it on!
Magical Montgomery discount coupon
September 22nd, 2008For those of you whom I spoke with about my booth at Magical Montgomery, I am pleased to report that I misread the booth locations. I was provided instructions, a booth number, and a “Silver Spring Central Business District” map with numbers on them. So I assumed that the numbers were the booth locations and I was able to locate my booth number in the outskirts of the main intersection of Ellsworth and Fenton, five blocks from the intersection. As it turns out, the numbers on the map are refer to Silver Spring development projects and the Magical Montgomery booths are really just within one block of the intersection. So much for my frustration.
In any case, as promised to those I spoke with and as noted by the title above, I am offering roughly the equivalent of a tax rebate by providing a 5% discount for anyone that purchases from my booth and brings a copy of this post with them. (For those math geeks, a 5% discount means that you pay 95% of the price of the item and then get charged the 6% Maryland sales tax so you end up with a price that is only .7% above the tagged item’s price (100*.95*1.06). If you spend over $100 and bring this post I will double the discount to 10%!
Lastly, before I depart for the evening, please don’t hesitate to provide me with your comments on my posts. I would really enjoy hearing from you. Take care and remember to bring this post with you to my booth for even greater savings off retail store prices.
